High-VOC products have been found to be significant contributors to air, soil and water pollution. Many standard finishing products, which are found in nearly every home or building such as wood preservatives and finishes, paints, compounds and plastics, contained high quantities of VOC. The VOC enter the air in the form of vapors during the drying or curing phase. VOC are known to be the cause of ‘sick building syndrome’ as well as to have the potential to affect health of humans and pets.
